THE NOWHERE VAULT
(Formerly known during early preview/PTS cycles as the Sage's Vault or Sage Renald's Vault)
If you're tired of standard DPS race bosses and want something that tests your movement, stealth, and puzzle-solving skills, The Nowhere Vault is built for you. Here’s your complete breakdown on how to stock up on keys, find the portal, crack the puzzle rooms, and walk out with your loot.
Stocking Up on Wondrous Nowhere Keys
Before you even think about stepping inside, you’re going to need Wondrous Nowhere Keys.
The Entry Ticket: You need 6 keys minimum just to unlock all three main wings.
Full Clear: Bring 9 keys (3 per wing) if you want to clear every standard challenge room in a single run.
Pro Tip: Pack 10 to 12+ keys per run so you have extras to unlock the optional Nowhere Chests scattered around the map.
Key Source | Drop Type | How To Get Them |
Client Favors | Guaranteed | You get guaranteed keys at Favor #10 and Favor #20. Clearing all 20 favors gets you 6 keys per character. Alt-character trick: Run your alts through favors to stock up guaranteed keys in advance! |
Dailies & Overland | RNG | Thieves Guild Heists and Reacquisition daily quests |
Overland | RNG | Thieves Troves, World Bosses, Delves, Dungeons, or dynamic world encounters |
Where to Find the Vault
No long questline required—you can head straight there:
Glenumbra ➔ Daggerfall Outlaws Den ➔ Thieves Guild Area ➔ Nexus Portal (Talk to "Early")
Head to Glenumbra and enter the Daggerfall Outlaws Den.
Find the Thieves Guild expansion area.
Look for the glowing portal and talk to Early to port straight into the Nexus (the main Vault hub).
Wing Structure & Puzzle Room Tips
The Nexus layout splits off into three main wings around the central Orrery: Arcanum Wing, Lunar Path Wing, and Cursed Castle Wing. Every run randomly rolls 3 challenge rooms and 1 Story Room per wing.
How to Solve Each Challenge Room
Sequential Pedestals: You have to hit pedestals in an exact order. Hit the wrong one, and you’ll take a massive knockback shockwave that resets your progress.
Tips: Look up at the central pillar for glowing visual cues. The standard sequence pattern usually runs: 4th ➔ 2nd ➔ 3rd ➔ 1st.
Relic Matching: You’ll see phantom projections floating overhead and need to match them to the real artifacts below.
Tips: Look up, check the projection, and match it to the physical Staff, Crown, or Tome sitting on the altars.
Stealth & Traversal: Floor traps, collapsing paths, and tight vision cones.
Tips: Speed and sneak builds shine here. Throw on the Ring of the Wild Hunt or Night Mother’s Embrace to breeze through undetected.
Gate Wheel Locks: Enemy waves lock down the progress wheels.
Tips: Melt the regional guards (Frost Atronachs, Senche-Tigers, Dro'm-Athra), clear out the add wave, and interact with the pressure wheel to pop the gate open.
Bonus Tip: Don't skip the story room in each wing! Interacting with the memory focal point reveals hidden doors leading to secret gardens and extra loot rooms.
Loot & Rewards Breakdown
Here’s are some of the things you can get from clearing challenge rooms, fixing up the Orrery, and cracking open Nowhere Chests:
Skill Styles: Unlock fragments for Evasion and Summon Shade.
Gear: Curated Vault armor and weapon sets with trial-tier drop rates.
Currencies & Leads: Grab Archival Fortunes and tradeable Antiquity Leads.
Cosmetics & Housing: Earn a unique Vault Mount (solving all secrets and completing all objectives), Thieves Guild home decor/furnishings, and crafting recipes.
Note: This is not an exhaustive list of rewards and are just a few of the ones we've found during testing on PTS.
